What a wonderful time Traci and I had just crusin' to Pebble Beach to see my cousin, Linda, and Tiffany and Sean in Monterey! We found a delicious fruit stand, well building w/air conditioning, just outside Bakersfield on the I-5. It's called Murray Farms and the fruit is so good it melts in your mouth! So, if you ever go up that way...it's worth time to make the stop. We brought back some, too.
I connected w/Cous' Linda like I never had before. Let me tell you, she's the most gracious host and wonderfulest person ever. She makes "family"....proud! And, as my side of the family has a lot of teeth missing...lol...she's not missing one! hahahhaah We laughed and laughed and laughed. She lost her husband awhile ago and they made quite the pair. He worked in Kosovo, at the 911 site, and at the Hurrican Katrina sites that victims had to move to. She encouraged him in his work. And, she was home alone while she supported him in his efforts. He began as a clinical psycologist and has helped so many humans along the way.
The two hosted a beautiful Family Reunion several years ago in their home and we conversed w/loved ones that we may have never been able to do. My heart goes out to her as she begins this "new season" in her life. However, if we go again...we have to make reservations because she's always entertaining.
Traci, Tiffany and Sean, Linda and I were able to shop in Carmel and had a really good time at Sur La Table...well, I did. It made me want to cook again..oh no! Here come the calories. Ugh.
I've been looking for plastic bowls (not measuring spoons, pans, etc.) that collapse flat...but, no luck. However, they had everything else!
The most amusing thing was the Doris Day Hotel sign that said, "Unattended Children Will be Given an Expresso and a Dog"....lol. One may dine w/their pet on the patio.
The best item, in my book, was the Sassafrass Tea. It's fragrance filled the car, my purse, my suitcase (as I was eventually trying to soften the aroma for my pregnant ,nauseous Tiffany), and the room were occupied with the fabulous root beer smell. Yummmm. And, it's taste was not a dissappointment to the taste buds.
The connection we made as part of a family was worth a fortune. I think we humans need to make more of an effort to connect w/each other. We need to sacrifice some of our time to go to a loved one's birthday party, or just talk on the phone. We need to take more time for others and stop focusing on ourselves and our selfishness.
I took a walk one morning and was in awe, once again, of the beauty of the ocean and scene that was before my eyes. Many walkers, runners, tourists and bicyclists seemed to be taking in the same. The Lord has made this earth so splendid in so many ways. It was a gorgeous weekend and I am so thankful to my family for letting me partake!
